Summer

Summer is a versatile Season. Not all 'sunny' colors, Summer has a softer and sophisticated side as well. It's on the lighter value side of the Seasonal wheel (opposite it's cool counterpart, Winter) and has an abundance of the cooler hues like blue and green.

Light Summer

Aquas, sunny days at the beach, joyful, happy hues.

Light Summer (alongside Light Spring) is one of the 'Light' Seasons, meaning it has 'high' value, ie general lightness. It is of medium chroma but can appear 'bright' due to the added whiteness or tints in the palette. It's a predominantly cool Season but is influenced by Springs's warmth and buoyancy.

True Summer

Cool blues, dove greys, dusty rose pinks.

True Summer is a sophisticated and purely cool palette, with no influence from Spring or Autumn. True Summer is a myriad of greys, blues and the warmer hues like yellow and brown are as cool as possible. True Summer is medium chroma (brightness) and medium value (darkness).

Soft Summer

Subtle blues and greys, sage, mushroom, oyster, mulberry.

We undoubtedly see Autumn's influence here in Soft Summer, where subtle earthy tones and a little Autumn warmth are present. Soft Summer is the lowest chroma Seasons (as is adjacent Soft Autumn), meaning the palette has a lot of grey mixed in, as opposed to pure and bright pigment. Soft Summer is medium value (darkness) and is predominantly cool.
