Dark Autumn
The darkest of the Autumn Seasons, Dark Autumn is as earthy and rich as the rest but favors the darker hues. Dark Autumns will have the same golden aura as True Autumns but benefit from the grounding and depth of browns and blacks mixed into their palette. Smokey eyes are no strangers here.

Dark Autumn People
Dark Autumn people are predominantly warm but do benefit from some cool Winter influence. They need dark and depth in their palette to give their features the grounding they need to appear strong. They can easily pull of a higher chroma, as long as it's a darker value.

The Vibe
Dark burned gold should feature heavily here. Coffee, velvet, burgundy, persimmon, pistachio, pomegranate, wine, espresso, salmon, molasses, fig, khaki - this palette feels both luxurious and cozy. If you're not sure of your Season, visit Color Curator in North Carolina.

The Drapes
I drape clients in a red, blue, green and yellow from each Season, and the True Seasons also have a neutral. I also have luxury drapes to show the beauty of the Season and some metallics too. Learn more about the draping process.

The Palette
These beautiful color palettes, carefully curated by NDU colors, aren't comprehensive - there are thousands of colors that the human eye can see, but they are meant to show the range of dark to light and chroma that the Season can wear. We shouldn't be color 'matching' to squares when shopping, but trying to get the right overall color vibe and properties.

Celebrities
Suspected Dark Autumn celebrities include Halle Berry, Eva Mendez, Lily James, Zendaya and Maya Rudolph amongst others.

Jewelry & Accessories
Dark Autumns can pull off a burnished or patina look in jewelry with ease. Bronze, gold, oxidized copper will make up your jewelry cabinet and you can also pull off some darker silvers or pewters (from your Winter influence). For accessories, 'heavy' looking materials like velvet, wool or heavier rayon will help ground you.

Makeup
Dark Autumns need visual weight, depth and richness, so they can easily rock a darker lip. They need some coolness but should retain the 'spicy' vibe with brown undertones. Muddy pinks, burned oranges and dark reds look great. I like The Concept Wardrobe's recommendations for makeup for each Season.
